Unlike most humane organizations, Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA also provides care for injured and orphaned native wild animals. And this time of year especially, the lives we see -- the lives we save -- come in all shapes and sizes.

Now each about the size of your fist, the three screech owls here came to us about two months ago, each just a couple of weeks old and ping-pong ball size balls of white fluff with big eyes. They're now beginning to transition into our larger outdoor aviaries and, we expect, we'll be singing "Born Free" as they fly off in about another 2-3 weeks.
