Eight-month-old Louise was born with albinism. Because of the lack of pigment in her eyes, she also has nystagmus, a condition that results in poor vision.
Two months ago, her mom, Megan McMorris, fastened a pair of glasses onto her daughter that gave her the ability to see. After looking confused for a few moments, Louise seemed to lock eyes with her mother and immediately broke into a smile.
"Once she could actually see me, it’s like 'Oh hi that’s you,'" McMorris told ABC. "She’s happy. At least she didn’t start crying."
The mom has also been singing to Louise and told ABC that she can tell her baby's "really listening."
“[The glasses] have helped slow her nystagmus because I think since she sees better, [she] is focusing on objects more than when she’s not wearing her glasses,” Megan mentioned to BuzzFeed. “She’s such an old soul. We love her to the moon and back!”
