WASHINGTON -- The compromise background check legislation crafted by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) has not yet been formally released. Announced on Wednesday, the bill will be considered as an amendment by the Senate sometime in the next few days.
But on Wednesday afternoon, Manchin's office put out a fact sheet explaining the broad policy goals of the bipartisan compromise. Titled "The Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act," the legislation's details are below.
