Baconfest 2011: Chicago's Bacon Celebration Draws Big Crowds (VIDEO)

WATCH: The Ridiculous And The Sublime At Baconfest 2011

Chicago's elite chefs are an experimental bunch. Put some bacon in their hands, and, as we learned on Saturday, they'll really go hog-wild.

The second annual Baconfest was held at the University of Illinois-Chicago this weekend, and chefs from some of the city's top restaurants brought in their bacony creations to share with the more than 1,500 pork lovers on hand.

Aside from the sorts of dishes you might expect -- BLTs, bacon pizzas, the requisite bacon-covered pig -- visitors also got to enjoy treats like the bacon sundae bar from Cafe des Architects. You could top your soft-serve ice cream with bacon chocolate sauce, pineapple bacon sauce, or bacon and toasted coconut, WBEZ's intrepid baconeer Kristen Kuchar reports.

Here's Kuchar's video report from the event. For more on the story, click here.
