Balenciaga Suing Ghesquiere

It ain't over till it's over. Designer Nicolas Ghesquiere, who left Balenciaga last November after he and the brand reached a "joint decision to end their working relationship," is now on the rough end of a lawsuit from the fashion house.

France's Challenges magazine reports that Balenciaga parent company PPR, which is now called Kering, is suing the former creative director for a "breach of confidentiality" after he spoke ill of the label in a magazine interview.

Ghesquiere spoke freely to System magazine this past April of the difficulties his job entailed. "I began to feel as if I was being sucked dry," he said, among other choice negative comments that Balenciaga "dehumanised" him.

Last week, rumors circulated that Ghesquiere is "definitely" in negotiations to succeed Marc Jacobs' creative directorship for Louis Vuitton. Here's hoping that, if that deal comes to fruition, the position would allow Ghesquiere to retain the artistic freedoms he lacked at Balenciaga.
