Watch What Happens When Host Is Confronted With Duck Embryo

Bon Appetit's Andrew Knowlton shares the latest in food trends, including balut.

Imagine you're a TV host just doing your segment like you're supposed to, and along comes Bon Appetit's Andrew Knowlton with his gruff beard and dark-rimmed glasses sharing tasty booze, delicious cheese and knowledge of the latest food trends. You'd probably think to yourself that you have it pretty good, that your life is at a high point. That is until he has you peel what appears to be a hard-boiled egg -- with no warning of what's inside.

Well, this particular hard-boiled egg was a Philippine specialty known as Balut, and what was inside was a real duck embryo. And the host in question, Caitlyn Becker, responded by screaming out, "No I will not eat a duck abortion!" Needless to say, she did not try it.

If you're interested in Knowlton's food trend predictions, watch the video above. Or if you just want to see the egg scenario unfold, skip to minute 8:55.
