Bank Customer Holds Would-Be Bank Robber At Gunpoint

Score one for the good guys.

A Georgia man is credited with thwarting a bank heist on Tuesday by holding a would-be robber at gunpoint until authorities arrived.

Police say Mark Katchem, 25, walked into a Wells Fargo in Cobb County and slipped a teller a note demanding money, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Another customer, who witnessed the alleged robbery, followed Katchem outside. The customer quickly picked up a gun from his car and forced Katchem onto the ground until Cobb County Sheriff's deputies arrived.

“I immediately knew by the way the man was standing, his stance, he was in control of the situation,” said Nick Daley, who witnessed the incident, told MyFoxAtlanta.

Police did not release the name of the armed customer who intervened.

Katchem was arrested and charged with robbery by intimidation.
