Barbra Streisand Stands Out In Leopard At A Chanel Fashion Show (PHOTO)

Barbra Streisand was an unlikely star -- as she said: "I arrived in Hollywood without having my nose fixed, my teeth capped, or my name changed." But this "Funny Girl" had the last laugh because it was the things that made her different: a sense of humor, unwavering confidence and a unique profile that launched her career. She went on to become a legend earning nine Grammys, four Emmys, two Oscars and a Tony. Today at seventy she's still just as fabulous as ever and shows no signs of slowing down.

Besides her amazing talents as a singer and actress, another undeniable part of Streisand's career is her iconic wardrobe. Always bold and never afraid to start a new trend, her best ensembles were custom pieces of her own design she had made by designers (her friend Donna Karen being one of them). Often Streisand's onscreen wardrobe and her own personal style blended together. Her dress in "A Star Is Born" for example was made from two shawls from her own closet that she draped together -- she would school Project Runway contestants.

In this 1966 photograph of a young Streisand at a Chanel fashion show in Paris, her star quality is already apparent. Amongst a famous crowd that included Richard Avedon and Marlene Dietrich, she is the only spectator not dressed monochromatically. She told InStyle that she had the suit custom-made because she loved the leopard print pillows on her bed. She also said about the picture: "Unfortunately, I was sick to my stomach for 10 days from a bouillabaisse I ate in Marseille. If I look a little strange, it's because I thought I might throw up." She's so chic we didn't even notice.
