'Barbra Streisand' Song By Duck Sauce Sweeps Europe (MUSIC VIDEO)

Nonsensical 'Barbra Streisand' Song Sweeps Through Europe

"Barbra Streisand," a dance song whose only lyric is the name of the legendary chanteuse has swept through Europe.

DJ duo Duck Sauce, DJs A-Trak (aka Alain Macklovitch) and Armand Van Helden, released the song October 12.

"Barbra" has since climbed to #5 on Billboard's "European Hot 100" list and has reached #1 in both Belgium and the UK.

A-Trak told Guy Raz of "All Songs Considered" that there is no rhyme or reason behind the decision to use Streisand's name.

"There really is no relation or rational reason behind the lyric in the title, Barbra Streisand," said A-Trak. "It's just something that we thought would make people laugh.... We just came up with this idea that it would be funny to say someone's name."

A-Trak explained that when he and Van Helden got together, the music was "done," but they felt it was missing a vocal sample.

The nonsensical song samples from Boney M's "Gotta Go Home."

So-Me directed the video for "Barbra Streisand," which includes cameos from the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell, ?uestlove, and Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend.
