Bat Fest Arlington: Bat Walks, Bat Art Exhibition, All Things Bat In Northern Virginia

Bats In Arlington!

Like a wild night life? Curious about echolocation? Concerned about white nose syndrome, a fungus that's decimating local bat populations? Or just think flying mammals are really cool?

Join your fellow bat aficionados at Bat Fest Arlington.

All things bat will be enjoyed Saturday night at the Gulf Branch Nature Center.

From 6:30-7:15 p.m., the nature center will host bat-related activities, like conservation talks, a presentation featuring live bats and an exhibition of bat-related artwork. Nature guides will host bat walks until 9 p.m.

Fun trivia: Virginia's state bat is the Virginia big-eared bat. As the name suggests, this bat has big ears. In Virginia, it lives in the state's western mountains (so you won't get to see it at Arlington's Bat Fest). This bat was listed as endangered in 1979.
