The One DIY Project You Need For A Relaxing Weekend

It's the weekend and we're always all about killing two birds with one stone on our days off. So why not tackle a DIY-project that also helps you relax in the end?

This bathtub project comes to HuffPost Home exclusively from A Beautiful Mess bloggers Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman's new book Happy Handmade Home and, by the looks of it, take about the same amount of time to complete as Sunday brunch.

You're welcome.

a beautiful mess bath shelf

Bubble Bath ShelfIf you have a bathtub, chances are you've used it to relax in a bubble bath after a long day. Right? Here's an easy project to create a cute shelf to hold your book, glass of wine or whatever you need to unwind.

Supplies:8 (1 1/2-by-1/2-by-36-inch) wood pieces (these can be longer or shorter depending on your tub size)2 (1 1/2-by-1/2-by-12-inch) wood piecesWood stainRagsWood glue16 small gold screwsDrill

1. Stain the 8 (36-inch) wood pieces for the base of the shelf. We used black (ebony) stain and a white stain. You can also stain the other two pieces of wood (these are for the bottom edges).

2. Glue the bottom two pieces to each end of the shelf.

3. For extra stability and to add a little shine add the gold screws to each end as well.
