It looks like a thing of marvel. It's the new Aton Martin hypercar, the AM-RB 001, a supercar so bodacious and bold that even Batman would be proud to call it his own ride.
This amazing-looking car was designed to be a new aerodynamic wonder. Just 100 of them will be created, and only two versions will be released: the racing version and the street legal variety. Of course, its track counterpart is being designed to compete in the LMP1-class Le Mans endurance.
Under the hood there will be a turbocharged V-12 engine that's naturally aspirated, sending power to the rear wheels and utilizing a hybrid Formula 1 system. While there's no final scope on the actual horsepower, it's being estimated at 900 brake horse power (bhp), with the same or better power-to-weight ratio that has made other racers big winners in the past.
With over 350 buyers already interested, in spite of the car's monstrous $3 million price tag, this should come as no surprise. Critics are already touting it as the fastest car of all-time.
Aston Martin isn't taking too many risks, with already more than three times the buyers lined up than they plan on producing cars. A good example of hypercars being hot sellers is found in the Bugatti Chiron, which has sold over 180 units despite its lofty $2.4 million price tag.
Aston Martin is no stranger to the hypercar market, either. The recent success of their Vulcan, priced at a meager $2.3 million, is telling enough. This vehicle was sold-out within months of the announcement, so it's rather safe to predict that they won't be holding onto any extra units of this new car, either.
Telling of the demand for supercars is Lamborghini's record-setting year. The carmaker sold over 3,000 cars last year, topping all other supercar makers and setting a new standard for sales. McLaren sold over 1,500 units last year, whereas Bentley unloaded over 11,000, and Ferrari delivered more than 7,000 to eager buyers.
While there are scant few details regarding features or interior luxuries and technology, it's safe to say that for a few million smackers your new Aston Martin will come fully loaded.
The Batmobile upgrade will cost you extra, though.
