Bear Crashes Into Elementary School, Chaos Ensues

Chaos ensued at Ogdensburg Elementary School in Ogdensburg, N.J., after a bear crashed through a glass door and ran through the hallway, CBS New York reports.

Luckily, school custodian Earl Hornyak was on the case.

“I started to chase it down a hallway and then it decides to go in a classroom,” Hornyak told the station.

Principal Tim Nicinski told CBS New York the school is located inan area where bears are common and that local residents are used to seeing the animals "daily or weekly."

According to the Star-Ledger, the bear was eventually coaxed out of a window by local police and then ran back into the woods.

The damaged doorway remains boarded up until an replacement can be installed.

"Nothing else was damaged," Nicinski told the New Jersey Herald. "We are very fortunate that it was just the door."
