Beauty and Confidence: Are They Related?

Since ancient times women have strived to look beautiful and have used different methods for enhancing one's natural look trying to adhere to the existing norms of beauty. And since there's a correlation between physical attractiveness and confidence, it wouldn't hurt to use some makeup or to accept some contemporary norms of 'beauty', especially if it affects a person's behavior in a positive way.

It seems like for the majority of women it's of great importance to look beautiful. But what does it mean to be beautiful and why is it so important? Why should it matter so much how we look? The main reason is that there is a direct correlation between one's physical look and one's behavior. People who consider themselves attractive believe they belong to a higher social status and, as a result, become more confident. And if the person is confident, there are more chances of passing the job interview and finding one's dream job; besides confident people are usually perceived as more charming. Of course, the concept of beauty like anything else is changing, and we are influenced by the society which in a way dictates the 'rules' of what it's like to be beautiful. From time to time, these rules get broken, and we have a slightly different approach to the concept of beauty. Is it a good or a bad thing? It's hard to give a 'yes' or 'no' answer as, whether we like it or not, we are impacted by the time frames we happen to be living in.

These days, it's quite common for the women to use different 'tools' that help them enhance their natural beauty. And so it's not surprising that cosmetics industry is one of the biggest ones. Women are the main consumers of lipsticks, mascaras, nail polishes, etc. Cosmetics is used not only to enhance one's beauty but also as a way of self-expression. Makeup can completely change the way one looks, and thus, can affect one's behavior. Even some small things, like using just a different color of lipstick or a nail polish can make a difference in the way the woman feels. During different life periods, I used to apply nail polish of different color which corresponded to the way I felt and expressed my personality and mood. Going from black color to bright orange, I used nail polish not only to feel more beautiful but also to emphasize my inner feelings and attitudes towards life, myself and others, which, of course, was completely different during different times. Accumulating so many colors of different nail polishes, it's also good to organize them all, - that's why choosing a nail polish rack can be quite helpful. Keeping everything organized is quite helpful as in such a way it's easier to find the right color of a nail polish without wasting too much time on going through every nail polish. Now I use more subtle colors of the nail polish or lipstick or sometimes don't use it at all, but I think that makeup, when not overused, can be great in terms of emphasizing one's mood and personality. And, of course, a slight makeup can make women feel more beautiful and, thus, more confident, which is a good thing.

Another important thing regarding the concept of 'beauty,' specifically for the women, is hair removal. It all started at the beginning of the 20th century. Since that time the majority of women feel more comfortable and confident when they remove the hair in certain body areas. Some women might argue that it's quite natural to have hair and rebel against that new 'tradition' of removing it, but still, most of us have accepted that new norm of beauty. At times this procedure can be painful and time-consuming. There are different ways of doing it, and nowadays laser hair removal seems like a great option that can help save the time and not go through that process over and over again. It might be too costly though, but one can find some ways of saving on laser hair removal cost. It's more convenient and cheaper to do it on your own, but, of course, the choice of how to do it is very individual and depends on a lot of factors.

It's just important to keep the balance and not to get obsessed with one's physical look, as it's only one of the aspects of the personality.
