The 11-year-old North Carolina boy who allegedly tried to commit suicide after repeatedly being bullied for his love of "My Little Pony" is getting some unique support, courtesy of a Connecticut tattoo parlor.
WFSB Eyewitness News reports that Beauty Mark Tattoo in Canton, Conn. is offering patrons "My Little Pony" tattoos for $40, with all proceeds raised going to the recovery of Michael Morones, who is recovering in the hospital with possible brain damage.
One man, who chose not to be identified, told WFSB he was planning to get a "My Little Pony" tattoo at the urging of his daughter. "I figured I'm in tattoos, and this is a good cause," he said. "And Beauty Mark was nice enough to get on board."
The Daily News is reporting that Beauty Mark Tattoos is just one of several parlors across the country that are making an effort to stand against bullying following Morones' suicide attempt. Other tattoo parlors in Louisiana and Texas have similar offers in place.
Last month, Ohio-based artist Paul Richmond co-launched "Art for Michael" in support of Morones, asking users to submit artwork created in support of the 11-year-old.
According to Morones' parents, their son was upset "because the kids were calling him gay for liking a girls’ TV show."
Shannon Suttle, the boy’s stepfather, told reporters, "His mom and I, well, we told him that it didn’t matter what other people think. It only matters what he thinks.”
Meanwhile, a recovery fund created for Morones has thus far raised over $72,000.
