It’s probably fortuitous that “Glee” star Lauren Potter became engaged after the series was canceled, because you know the New Directions would ruin the wedding with a Kidz Bop rendition of “One Dance” or something equally heinous.

Bullet dodged, Becky. Bullet dodged.

Potter, who played cheerleader Becky Jackson and sidekick to one Sue Sylvester on Fox’s dearly departed musical comedy, accepted a promise ring on Sunday from her longtime childhood friend, Timothy Spear, People reports.

Spear popped the question during a romantic picnic in Laguna Beach overlooking the ocean, Potter’s mom, Robin Sinkhorn (pictured below), told the magazine.

“He picked out the ring, made payments on it, and then planned the picnic and the moment to get down on one knee to ask her to promise to be his one-and-only and marry him when they are ready,” Sinkhorn said.

The couple, who both happen to have Down syndrome, have known each other since they were babies, as both of their mothers took the same infant stimulation classes during pregnancy.

Potter, who has gone on to appear in “Veep” and become an advocate for disability awareness, got back in touch with Spear in recent years and the two began a relationship.

“We’ve kept in touch over the years, but it wasn’t until the kids were reunited while they were both living in Laguna Beach,” Sinkhorn added. “When Lauren ended a relationship, Timothy immediately asked her out and they have been together since.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
