Ben Affleck: 'Daredevil' Was A Movie I Didn't Like 'At All'

Lest you think actors enjoy all the films they star in, Ben Affleck recently revealed the one he really did not find all that compelling.

In an extensive interview with Details, Affleck -- who is promoting "Argo" -- said he didn't like "Daredevil" ... "at all."

I made a bunch of movies that didn't work. I was ending up in the tabloids. I don't know what the lesson is, except that you just have to find your compass.

I liked "Sum of All Fears." "Daredevil" I didn't at all. Some movies should have worked and didn't. At a certain point, it's just up to the movie gods. Anyway, this image becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. And I just said, "I don't want to do it anymore. This is horrible. I don't want to be in this spotlight, this glare, in this way. It's tawdry, it's ugly, it's oppressive, and it's inane. So I'm going to try to get away."

2003 was a rough year for the actor, who was often mocked in the tabloids for his complicated relationship with Jennifer Lopez, his co-star in "Gigli." That film went on to be widely derided by critics and audiences. "People bring up 2003, and I get it," Affleck acknowledged. "All this sh-t just kind of blew up. But, you know, in 2003, Barack Obama was a state senator in Illinois! Okay?"

Fair enough.

Affleck has turned his career around in a remarkable way. After seeing "Argo" at the Toronto International Film Festival, HuffPost Entertainment's Mike Ryan noted that the film exceeded his high expectations. "'Argo' is Ben Affleck's personal masterpiece," Ryan wrote. "And, no I can't believe I just wrote that last sentence either."

Another fun tidbit from the Details piece: Blake Lively didn't know Affleck and Matt Damon worked together ("Oh my God! You know Jason Bourne?!"). For more, head over to the magazine's website.
