Ben Affleck, Matt Damon Making Whitey Bulger Film

Ben Affleck, Matt Damon Finally Reuniting!

Fourteen years after "Good Will Hunting" launched them to international fame, Boston boys Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reuniting in Bean Town for their next project together.

GQ reports that Affleck and Damon will team on a film about infamous mobster Whitey Bulger, the leader of the Winter Hill gang who was arrested this past June. Damon will star as the brutal mobster, while Affleck will direct.

It will be Affleck's fourth or fifth directorial effort, depending on when it shoots; he's wrapping up work on his third, the CIA thriller "Argo," and is rumored to be up for directing the adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand." Damon, for his part, will film the Liberace biopic for HBO next summer, and just announced that he will be directing his first picture, which he will co-write and co-star in with John Krasinski.

This summer, "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli announced that he would be producing a film about Bulger based on a book by one of his former enforcers. Damon clearly sees them as competition.

"There are a couple of competing movies and I don't think it's been announced yet that we're doing it," he told GQ. "But the sooner it's announced the better, just because everyone else will back off, hopefully. I'm really excited about it."

Damon has experience with Irish mob films, having co-starred in Martin Scorsese's "The Departed," though he played an undercover mobster working for the fuzz in that film.
