Watch Sparks Fly Between Trey Gowdy And Elijah Cummings At The Benghazi Hearing

We almost made it to lunch without an outburst.

Things got heated between Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the chairman and ranking Democrat of the House Select Committee on Benghazi respectively, just before Thursday's hearing broke for lunch.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was brought before the committee Thursday to testify about the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead. After hours of mostly slow-paced, monotonous questioning, Cummings and Gowdy sparred over longtime Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal.

Cummings accused Gowdy of making contradictory statements, and vehemently demanded transcripts from Blumenthal's deposition -- which Gowdy attended -- be released.

"You said from the beginning we want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth," Cummings said. "Why don't we just put the entire transcript out there and let the world see it? What do you have to hide?"

Watch the exchange above.
