Bernadette Peters Beauty Evolution: For The Love Of Her Fabulous Curls (PHOTOS)

For The Love Of Bernadette Peters' Fabulous Curls

With the constant pressure to color and cut one's hair in a matter of days for a Hollywood role, I tip my wide-toothed comb to Bernadette Peters. The actress, singer and children's book author has managed to keep her curls perfectly intact (give or take a couple character blowouts and wigs) over the five decades she's been in the entertainment business. When Peters steps onto the red carpet, you'd be hard-pressed to miss her thanks to her famous red ringlets.

The Queens, New York native has had an illustrious acting career where her curly hair has worked in her favor. From playing Steve Martin's love interest in 1979's "The Jerk" to her Tony award-winning performance as Annie Oakley in the 1999 Broadway revival of "Annie Get Your Gun," Peters proves that keeping things natural is sometimes best. Or as she puts it: "You've gotta be original, because if you're like someone else, what do they need you for?"

As Bernadette Peters celebrates her 65th birthday on Thursday (Feb. 28), we're taking a look back to see how the star's famous curls -- and makeup looks -- have evolved over the years.
