Hillary Clinton was defensive tonight. The first 20 minutes of the debate consisted of her branding herself as a progressive. At the same time, she argued that single payer healthcare would never come to pass. She went on to say that nobody, not even President Obama, is a progressive, according to Bernie Sanders' impossible definition.

Sanders responded by pointing out that you can't be both a progressive and a moderate, both of which Clinton has claimed to be. He said, "I'm the only candidate up here who doesn't have a super PAC," later explaining how Clinton's connections to Wall Street and the pharmaceutical industry undermine her political motives.

The battle between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton is simple. It's a battle between a lifelong progressive and a lifelong politician.
