Bernie Sanders Wants Donald Trump To Know He Also Went To The Bathroom

Trump called Hillary Clinton's bathroom break during Saturday's Democratic debate "disgusting."

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Tuesday deviated from his usual presidential campaign stump speech on economic inequality to note that he, like many others, is perplexed by Republican candidate Donald Trump's latest attack on Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

"I don't know how to break this to you. Donald Trump is very upset," Sanders told a crowd at a campaign stop in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

"I don't know what his relationship with women has been like, but he has discovered that women go to the bathroom, and it's very upsetting for him."

Sanders was referring to Trump's outrage that Clinton, during Saturday's Democratic debate, was late coming back from the first commercial break because she used the bathroom.

"I know where she went. It's disgusting. I don't want to talk about it," Trump said on Monday.

At Tuesday's rally, Sanders read Trump's quote out loud, marveling at the businessman's apparent lack of understanding of basic bodily functions.

"This is a guy who wants to be president of the United States. He must have a very unusual relationship with women," Sanders said.

Sanders noted that he, like Clinton, also went to the bathroom during the debate, but somehow Trump wasn't disgusted by that.

"I've got to be honest with you. I've got to lay it out on the table: I also went to the bathroom," Sanders said. "I know. I have to admit it."

"I guess other men are allowed to go to the bathroom, but women, what can we say?"

Sanders also condemned Trump for taking away attention from "the real issues," with his offensive rhetoric toward Mexican and Muslim immigrants.

"What we are saying to the American people is, no, Donald Trump is not right. A Mexican worker making eight bucks an hour is not the reason why the middle class is disappearing," Sanders said. "And no, we are not going to divide our people up and create scapegoats, like Muslims, to hate. We're going to bring our people together."
