Rachel Bloom Takes Home Best Actress In TV Comedy

The "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" star was chosen as the winner over Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jamie Lee Curtis.

In a category full of strong contenders, Rachel Bloom won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for her role as Rebecca Bunch in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Bloom beat fellow nominees Lily Tomlin, Gina Rodriguez, Jamie Lee Curtis and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Bloom is also a co-creator of the show.

Bloom reacted with genuine surprise when her name was announced, and brought the same emotion to her acceptance speech. Bloom explained how her show, an unlikely hour-long comedy that at first struggled to find a home, almost didn't get made. She thanked both the CW for championing "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and her co-creator Aline Brosh-McKenna. "I love you all!" Bloom shouted at the end.

Bloom got her start creating viral videos on YouTube, carrying the same energy over to her starring role on her now Golden Globe-winning show. Before heading to the red carpet earlier Sunday evening, Bloom shared a slice of that signature style on Instagram.

She titled that one "The Sexy Golden Globey Song," after a song that was a hit among fans of her show. Now she'll have to change those words to "The Sexy Winning Globey Song." Congrats!
