And The Best American City For Pizza Is..

There's no question: American's love affair with pizza is a strong and deep (dish?) one.

According to the number crunchers at Statistic Brain, 93 percent of Americans eat at least one piece of pizza per month, with last year's annual pizza sale revenue in the U.S. totaling $32 billion.

A growing portion of the slices being served up are Neapolitan-style pizza, according to the March issue of Travel + Leisure. The magazine called the slice "a nationwide passion" in its roundup of the top 20 American cities for pizza.

While Neapolitan is a growing favorite, Chicago and New York styles are still among the best-loved pies. Nevertheless, Brooklyn-based writer Jeff Turrentine tells Travel + Leisure:

“These days, you can find decent, or even excellent, New York–style pizza in almost any medium-sized to large city in America. But finding even passable Chicago-style pizza outside of Chicago—that still poses a challenge.”

The Windy City has been called the home of the America's "Most Life-Changing Slice" so it comes as no surprise that Chicago-style creations are often imitated — but never duplicated.
