Teresa Giudice won't be getting any sympathy from Bethenny Frankel, because the former "Real Housewives of New York" cast member doesn't feel a bit bad for the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star, who was just indicted on charges of fraud.
On Wednesday, the celebrity chef attended the TCA tour panel at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills to promote her upcoming talk show, "Bethenny." The topic turned to Joe and Teresa Giudice, who were indicted Monday on 39 counts, including bank and bankruptcy fraud. The Skinny Girl mogul had some pointed words about the Jersey star.
"My first thought today was, 'Oh, if they weren't on reality TV, none of this would probably ever be exposed.' And it's just funny how certain people are [like a] moth to a flame," she said, according to Us Weekly. "It's almost like -- not that you want to get caught -- but people who love to be in the spotlight often have a lot of skeletons in their closet. It's just an interesting thing."
"I haven't paid that much attention," Frankel added, regarding the Giudices' legal woes. "Do I feel sorry for them? No, I don't. Not so much, because it broke the law. You broke the law and you went on television. That's not really that smart."
Between 2001 and 2008, the Giudices reportedly submitted false information in order to secure various loans from the bank. When they filed for bankruptcy in 2009, they allegedly failed to disclose all their assets, including their businesses and her "Real Housewives" earnings. Also, Joe Giudice is accused of not filing tax returns from 2004 through 2008.
They were each released on $500,000 bail and both are expected back in court Aug. 14, according to "Entertainment Tonight." If found guilty, they each face a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison. Joe, who is not a U.S. citizen, could be deported to Italy.
The 41-year-old "Housewife," who was photographed smiling with one of her four daughters Thursday, is reportedly in denial about the entire ordeal.
“Teresa thinks people are coming after her because she is famous,” a source told the New York Daily News. “She honestly thinks she has done nothing wrong."
