Admission is free, and all art is available for purchase.
West Coast contemporary art would be stillborn were it not for Pop Surrealist patriarch/Low Brow midwife Robert Williams who will climax the Saturday's opening events when he receives an Lifetime Achievement award from Billy Shire and Matt Kennedy of La Luz de Jesus -- tribute, roast, love fest -- this is not to be missed, as Williams is one of the most talented, articulate, inspired, inspiring and irascible nose-thumbers to ever pick up a paint brush. Williams -- who also founded Juxtapoz Magazine -- delves into history ancient and modern, religious symbols, pop culture and philosophical concepts about man's relationship with the Self, the created world and Divine, plus fast cars and chicks with big boobs.
Along with brick and mortar galleries C.A.V.E, Carmichael, Copro, Crewest, La Luz de Jesus LaBasse, and Thinkspace exhibiting artists like Miguel Paredes, Man One, Jason Hernandez, Jennifer Springman, Anthony Ausgang, Damian Fulton, Becca, Derek Gores and so many more, mobile/pop-up gallery Cannibal Flower will be celebrating their ten-year anniversary at Beyond Eden with a selection of their artists including Louie Metz, Young Chun, and Michael Pukac, and a dozen others. Cannibal Flower's DJ L Croskey aka DJ Mr. NumberOnederful (Bitter:Sweet) & X-Point will be adding aural stimulation to Saturday night spinning sets designed enhance and delight. Plus the bar, which features drinks from Krome Vodka and local brewery Hollywood Blonde served in biodegradable cups -- oh that all galleries were so aware! -- benefits non-profit Latino Arts LA, which provides after school arts education as means to build self-confidence.
Throughout the weekend, there will be ongoing screenings of New Brow, Tanem Davidson's documentary on the contemporary art scene
