Bic For Her Commercial Is Even Worse Than The Pens Themselves

In case you were getting worried, the advertisement for the world's most ridiculed pens has arrived. And the 'Bic For Her' commercial is even sillier than the original product. Let the mass mocking begin.

The commercial operates on the assumption that young women NEED pink pens. In fact, the tween girl featured in the spot is so desperate for a pink pen that she actually rejects an assortment of black and blue pens in her time of writing utensil need. And the Bic Man who finally hands her the pink pen she requires gets a chaste kiss on the cheek for his efforts. "With its fabulous styling and smooth writing, Bic For Her is the only choice," says the voice-over.

In addition to producing one of the least self-conscious pieces of advertising seen in a while, Bic has just given every female student equipped only with a standard ballpoint a unique riff on the dog-ate-my-homework excuse, which possibly no one ever used anyway. Now girls can calmly explain to the educator on hand that, deprived of a "fabulous" and "smooth" utensil, she can't possible complete her assignments. Teachers, it's going to be a long school year.

Earlier this month, Amazon reviewers had a field day making snarky fun of Bic For Her pens with comments like these:

AT LAST! Bic, the great liberator, has released a womanly pen that my gentle baby hands can use without fear of unlady-like callouses and bruises. Thank you, Bic!

Oh. My. God. I've been doing it all wrong. There was me thinking I didn't need to worry about whether my writing implement sufficiently reflected my gender. Thank you so much Bic for showing me the error of my ways. Perhaps Bic will also bring out a new range of pink (or purple) feminine spanners, screwdrivers, electric drills and angle grinders so that I can carry out my job as a bicycle mechanic without further embarrassing myself?

We look forward to the clever comments the Bic For Her commercial will elicit. Feel free to leave some below.
