"Mob Wives" star Angela Raiola, better known as "Big Ang," died on Thursday. She was 55.
Series producer Jennifer Graziano said Raiola died at a New York City hospital after battling cancer for nearly a year.
Family friend Vinnie Medugno confirmed her death on the "Mob Wives" star's official Twitter account.
Big Ang and #RIPBigAng were soon trending on social media in tribute to the star.
According to a GoFundMe page that the reality star's sister set up, Raiola started chemotherapy for stage 4 brain and lung cancer in January.
Raiola was diagnosed with throat cancer in April 2015 and underwent two surgeries to have a tumor removed. In December, she learned the cancer had spread to her lungs and brain.
On an episode of "The Dr. Oz Show" that aired on Feb. 15, the mother of two revealed that she split with her husband Neil Murphy shortly after receiving her December diagnosis.
"I felt like he never stepped up to the plate, so I was done with it," she told Oz.
Raiola rose to fame in 2012 on VH1's reality series, "Mob Wives." Her colorful personality gave way to two spinoffs in which she starred, "Big Ang" and "Miami Monkey."
She is survived by her two children, Raquel and Anthony Donofrio.
