'Big Shrimpin'': Crew Works To Free Hammerhead Shark (VIDEO)

Hammerhead Shark On Board on 'Big Shrimpin''

The crew of the Miss Ashley caught something much bigger than shrimp in their net on "Big Shrimpin'" (Thu., 10 p.m. EST on History). For a few anxious moments they could have renamed the show "Big Sharkin'" when the nets revealed a 7-foot, 600 pound live hammerhead shark thrashing in the net above the boat.

Experts in how to handle this situation, the crew proceeded with caution and untangled the shark from the net. Things were going smoothly until the guy who was supposed to lower the shark to the deck once a rope was tied around his tail failed to do just that. Instead, the shark was flailing about and swinging wide across the deck. It was like the world's most dangerous pinata, and no one wanted to go near it.

Finally, they got the shark onto the deck and as quickly as possible moved it off to the side and pushed it back into the water. No one was injured, but one aquatic animal certainly had a memorable experience! His TV debut went quite swimmingly.

You never know what they'll catch on "Big Shrimpin'" every Thursday night at 10 p.m. EST on History.
