In what can only be the most important role of his life, Bill Hader has reportedly been cast to fill the role of David Hasselhoff's character in the upcoming "Baywatch" movie, according to The Wrap.

While the "SNL" star will be attempting to follow in Hasselhoff's flip-flop-shaped footsteps, The Hoff himself will also make an appearance. He is set to make a cameo in the Paramount film. Because it wouldn't be complete without her, former "Baywatch" lifeguard Pamela Anderson will also be included in the movie.

Before getting too excited about Hader's potential involvement in the "Baywatch" movie, note that the New York Daily News reports that Hader will not appear in the film. A Paramount rep told the tabloid that the script for the film is not finished and the role has not been filled.

Known for its scandalous red swimsuits, slow-motion running, and dramatic story lines, "Baywatch" aired from 1989 to 1999, with a spin-off, "Baywatch Hawaii," running from 1999 to 2001.

Directed by Robert Ben Garant ("Reno 911!"), the film will begin shooting in April.
