Bill Maher: Democrats Must Ditch Pet Causes To Stop 'Infection' Of Trump

“There’s no room for boutique issues in an armageddon election."

Bill Maher says Democrats must cast aside their pet causes and focus on the bigger picture if they really want to beat Donald Trump.

“There’s no room for boutique issues in an armageddon election,” the “Real Time with Bill Maher” host said Friday.

“Every cause has to take a back seat to defeating Trump. He’s like an infection, you don’t fool around with it.”

The comedian is a staunch advocate for the legalization of marijuana, but he vowed to cease campaigning on the issue if it meant Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton winning the race for the White House in November.

“You know me, I have seeds in my urine,” he said. “But if someone told me that pushing for pot might cost Hillary Ohio, until November 8, I’m gonna shut the fuck up about it.”

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
