Bill O'Reilly Tries To Scold George Stephanopoulos (VIDEO)

WATCH: Bill O'Reilly's Awkward Confrontation With George Stephanopoulos

Bill O'Reilly hosted "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos on his Wednesday Fox News show and tried to scold the ABC News host for a comment made by Tavis Smiley on the network's Sunday public affairs show.

During a discussion on the George Zimmerman trial verdict, Smiley said, "This is, for many Americans, another example of the incontrovertible contempt that this nation often shows and displays for black men."

O'Reilly argued that Stephanopoulos should have further challenged Smiley's response. The ABC News host said he appropriately challenged the comment, but that the discussion on the Sunday show was wide-ranging and included several other people.

"But I don't think you can allow him to say that black men are held in contempt in America," O'Reilly said. "That's false ... I think when people start to say these things, that you and me and all these other people who have responsibility to run our programs in a fair matter have to say, 'Hold it. I don't see it that way.'"

"That's sort of like criticizing somebody for a book they didn't write," Stephanopoulos said.

"It's not a matter of journalism. It's a matter of patriotism," O'Reilly said.
