Former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan's latest non-musical pet project is slated to open this week in Highland Park, Ill.
Corgan tweeted last year that a tea house in Chicago's north suburbs was in the works, teasing that he had "lots of teas to try!"
The 30-seat Madame ZuZu's Tea House, styled after 1930s China, was originally slated to open last spring, then early this summer, but was delayed by construction issues.
The suburban destination will finally open its doors on Thursday, Sept. 13, Eater Chicago reports, and Corgan described the space as "better than [he] could have hoped for."
The tea house will double as a music venue and gallery space, hosting live art showcases, poetry readings, live acoustic music and more on a small stage, according to NBC Chicago.
Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering praised Corgan's initial proposal as a positive addition to the community.
“He has some unique ideas to bring more of a fun, cultural vibe to Highland Park," Rotering told the Chicago Sun-Times "It’s neat that he wants to bring his creativity and his energy to our community.”
Madame ZuZu's isn't the rock star's only recent eccentric business investment: late last year, Corgan launched a professional wrestling company with other local investors.
