Downtown man Billy Joel has spent 2014 performing monthly at New York's Madison Square Garden, and for the August show he surprised fans in attendance by singing "Uptown Girl" to Christie Brinkley, his ex-wife, who was in the front row.

Brinkley was impressed:
Joel and Brinkley met in 1983 and grew close while filming the video for "Uptown Girl"; they would later marry in 1985, have one child together (Alexa Ray Joel) and stay together for nine years. The former couple has remained close, with Brinkley writing a heartfelt tribute to Joel's mother after her death in July.
