It was wonderful to meet Binod Chaudhary today. He is in NY to promote his book "Making it Big," which describes his successful path to becoming the first billionaire in Nepal. In our discussion, Binod talks about how the CG Foundation is supporting his beloved Nepal, especially after the recent earthquake. He inspires the next generation of Nepalese and people around the world with a unique combination of power and humility. Watch our interview to gain some of his wisdom and feel his positive spirit.
Going into our meeting, I was thinking about how to approach Mr. Chaudrey. I don't have too many opportunities to meet with people who have made this kind of fortune. While sitting in the lobby of the Pierre hotel, waiting for the Chaudhary family to arrive, I took a moment to do my S.H.E.R.PA. meditation. My purpose became to welcome them to NY as I was welcomed to Nepal and to help promote Mr. Chaudhary's book and Foundation. I was also able to connect my long time friend Karma Sherpa with the Foundation to provide a computer lab for the rebuilt school in Karma's childhood village of Taksindu, located south of Mt. Everest. I realized that I was much happier and more fulfilled when I turned the conversation in my head from "what can I get from you" to, "how can I help you?" This is another positive step on The Sherpa Path.
