will.i.am came out swinging Thursday, slamming down a rumor that was percolating online since at least Monday. Sites like Perez Hilton (who charmingly claimed an "EXCLUSIVE" on the story) had claimed that the Black Eyed Peas were looking to replace singer Fergie, who is currently pregnant.

The only problem with the big scoop? It's not true. Here's will.i.am:

Here's Perez' take, from Monday:

A source VERY close to the situation has told PerezHilton.com EXCLUSIVELY that the funk-tastic band has secretly been auditioning aspiring female leads for the group. Since The Duchess has made it common knowledge that she plans to take the next few years to herself — for parenting and another solo album — the band agreed it was time to move on.

will.i.am recently teamed up with Justin Bieber to release another dance-inflected single, "That Power," which sees the Black Eyed Peas singer once again blending a hip-hop sensibility with an electronic dance track.
