By now I am sure you've read about the interview that Saturday Night Live cast member Keenan Thompson did with TV Guide about the lack of black female comedians being represented on the show. If not, read the full story here.
When asked about why he feels SNL does not have any black women in the cast, Thompson responded "In auditions, they just never find ones that are ready."
This statement upset many people who felt that Thompson was implying that there are not any African-American female comedians who are talented enough to be on the show. Everyone from The Frisky, Yahoo! News , Clutch Mag and Shadow & Act had responses analyzing Thompson's statement. Some felt that his words may have been taken out of context, while other felt that the casting process as a whole is to blame.
Even I wrote an opinion piece for Jet Magazine about how black women are continually told they are "not ready" even though we all know that there are many talented African American women on the comedy scene who are more than ready to take the entertainment world by storm.
Well, in the midst of all of the drama, one performer has admitted that she is indeed "not ready" for Saturday Night Live! Her name is Nyima Funk and she has created a hilarious video response to all of the madness!
