Former Sen. Bob Kerrey's (D-Neb.) campaign announced Friday that he raised more than $900,000 since entering the race on Feb. 29. to fill the seat of retiring Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.)
"It’s a clear sign that Nebraskans are tired of ‘politics as usual’ and want to elect a leader who will tell the truth and cross party lines to address the serious problems we face as a nation," Paul Johnson, Kerrey's campaign manager, told The Hill.
The candidates in the Republican primary saw more modest fundraising hauls. State Treasurer Don Stenberg raised nearly $244,000 this quarter, while state attorney general Jon Bruning raised $530,000. However, Bruning maintains an advantage in cash on hand, with $1.4 million compared to Kerrey's $556,000.
A PPP poll released March 27 showed Kerrey trailing his rivals.
