John Boehner Talks House Dress Code, Evokes Image Of Dressed-Down Barney Frank

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) spent about three minutes reminding House members of the "appropriate" dress code ahead Tuesday's State of the Union address.

"Members should wear appropriate business attire during all sittings of the House, however brief their presence on the floor might be," Boehner said, according to The Hill. "You know who you are," he added, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Boehner may have issued the reminder thanks to the curious attire worn last month by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.). Frank made headlines when he appeared on the House floor wearing a snug, light blue crew neck shirt underneath his sport coat, making C-SPAN viewers unusually aware of the chilly temperatures inside the Capitol building.

Boehner also reminded House members of other points of decorum, noting they should avoid walking around when others are speaking and to speak only when recognized.

Boehner has already taken a shot at Obama ahead of the State of the Union address, claiming he thinks "it's pathetic" for Obama to promote "the same old policies" of more spending, taxes and regulations that many Republicans claim have hurt the economy.
