Boots on the Ground Two

Last week I suggested the difficulties that faced US forces if the President sent them into the ISIS battle in Iraq. I particularly pointed out the difficulties that armed vehicles face from IEDs if we attempted to use them in that country. Yesterday on television, one of the news shows revealed the make up of the forces that our military was planning to send into the area. In addition to troops and light arms it included 350 MRAPs -- the same vehicle that did not work in Afghanistan. MRAPS cost somewhere between $900,000 and $1 million each. That would be somewhere between $350 and $400 million spent after their failures in Afghanistan.

It was ridiculous for the government to disclose our six weeks from now plans and let the enemy now what we were thinking. It's even more ridiculous to spend almost $350 million on a weapon that has not performed satisfactorily

The DOD claims it didn't know about the release of the previous information and played no part in creating it. I hope that's so and that it immediately steps in and ends the foolishness.
