Bounce House Explosion Injures 6 Kids At Idaho Park

An inflatable "bounce house" exploded at an Idaho picnic on Saturday, injuring six children who were playing inside.

The explosion occurred during a company picnic at Julia Davis Park in Boise, KBOI reported. There were "many, many children" inside the house when the accident occurred, Jake Oven, field supervisor for Ada County Paramedics, told the station.

Oven told KTVB that "this is the first time I've responded on a bounce-house explosion."

All injuries were minor and the children were treated at the scene.

Officials are not saying why the bounce house exploded.

Bounce house-related injuries have risen over the last few years, CNN reported. Between 2008 and 2010, the number of injuries more than doubled, according to a study by the Nationwide Children's Hospital. In 2010, an average of 31 kids a day were treated in emergency rooms for bounce-house related injuries, the study found -- an average of one child every 45 minutes.
