Bouncy Slide Blows Away, Injures 2 Children In Colorado (VIDEO)

2 Kids Hurt When Inflatable Bouncy Slide Blows Away

Two children suffered minor injuries when the inflatable slide they had been playing on was tossed around by the wind in Littleton, Colo., on Saturday.

One girl was thrown off the slide as it blew away. She was treated at the scene.

"All of a sudden, it picks up and there's a girl going down the slide," Vannessa Atencio, a witness, told KUSA. "She flies about eight feet in the air. The slide tumbles across the field."

The other child, a boy, was on the slide as it tumbled and slid some 200 to 300 feet before coming to rest by a pond. He was taken to a hospital as a precaution but is expected to be OK, according to KCNC.

"Parents were screaming. Moms were crying," Dave Colee told the Denver Post. "It was slow-motion. It took probably 60 seconds to roll across the field."

Both children are believed to be about 10 years old and had been attending the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree. KUSA said the organization told Airbound, the company running the slide, to stop operating immediately. They added that Airbound may not be invited to future Jamborees.

Airbound told KUSA that its slide had been properly staked the ground.

Weather.com noted that wind gusts of up to 40mph were recorded in the area.

It's the second high-profile incident involving a large inflatable in less than a month. On May 12, three children were injured when a bouncy house was tossed some 50 feet in the air in South Glens Falls, N.Y.

Two of the children suffered serious injuries and one was in a medically induced coma for several days. All three are now recovering, The Saratogian reports.
