I apologize as always for not sending out birthday wishes. It would be too cumbersome, and as I've indicated, every day is a gift so we don't really have birthday celebrations. I turned 46, which in itself isn't really a milestone, or a gall stone, or any other kind of stone. But when you've been through the ringer, it's spongeworthy. Eldest texted me from camp, and the younger two sent messages from elsewhere. My wife who does beautiful invites for weddings and Mitzvahs did her usual. I was stuck on the NJ Turnpike in a multi-vehicle pileup during July 4th traffic to the shore. I should have stopped after two pieces of Facebook cake. The third piece gave me awful gas. It was a good day however, as I did get the job offer I wanted. The business is closing due to Medicare cuts and restrictions that will put a lot of small businesses out. Cuts are one thing, but restrictions are unfair. Big guys win. Thirteen years down the proverbial drain and we move on.

Busy few week lately. Exact Sciences named me their colon cancer Hero of the Month. Truly an honor, especially when you consider those who have received this before me. Reminds me of when I was profiled in the Journal of Young Adult Oncology. Story is pretty much the same, but the company you keep means a lot. I was invited to spend a few days with Myriad Genetics to discuss my story with other genetic cancer survivors and previvors (someone with the mutation but no signs yet). The staff seemed to really enjoy getting to know us, and it's definitely a good thing to know you're making a difference. And I hosted a dinner with other survivors, caregivers and spouses for Fight Colorectal Cancer in Manhattan to discuss what we'd like to see in the cancer "manual." I spent at day with C5, the NYC coalition for colon cancer control. Some of the sharpest minds in GI and Oncology in one of the best medical areas of the world. They took pictures with me and AliveAndKickn swag. I feel like Susan Lucci at the Daytime Emmies. They like me... they really like me.

Still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up. Maybe I'll decide when I'm playing soccer this afternoon.
