Brad Pitt's Kids Have Made Him A Better Man: Being A Dad 'Takes You Right Off Yourself'

Brad Pitt 'Really Enjoys' Being A Stay-At-Home Dad

2013 is a special year for Brad Pitt, who's not only marrying the love of his life, Angelina Jolie, but is turning the big 5-0.

So with a wedding, six kids and a milestone birthday to celebrate, what's Pitt looking forward to most?

"This is what I think about: 'Okay, you're way over the mid-point [of your life]. You don't know how much time you have left,'" Pitt tells People about getting older. "I want to enjoy this year more than ever."

Pitt, who turns 49 on Dec. 18, still has time to bask in his 40s, although he seems to be clocking in a lot of minutes with Jolie, 37, and their brood of six -- Maddox, 11, Pax, 9, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 6, and 4-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

While chatting with People, the "Killing Them Softly" star was enjoying dinner with his twins at their rental home outside of London, where Jolie is shooting "Maleficent." But meals with his children are standard nowadays as Pitt plays the role of stay-at-home dad.

"It's been a family type of year, a down-home type of year," he explains. "Mama's worked more. And quite frankly I've really enjoyed it."

And has fatherhood made him a better man? "Absolutely," Pitt gushes to People, explaining that being a dad "takes you right off yourself."

As for his long-awaited nuptials to Jolie, Pitt reveals "just family" will be a part of their big day.

"Keep it simple," he adds. "Keep it simple – really."
