Oakland A's Pitcher Condemns 'Kiss Cam' Gay Humor On Twitter

Is Brandon McCarthy the latest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community ally?

The famed Oakland A's pitcher has spoken out against operators of the stadium "kiss cam" phenomenon who hope to generate laughs from the crowd by featuring (presumably straight) same-sex pairs and prompting them to smooch.

As NBC Sports is reporting, McCarthy expressed his thoughts on Twitter, going so far as to condemn the "kiss cam" trend as "sh*tty comedy" and noting how the practice was particularly "offensive to gay males."

He encountered a fair amount of resistance to his thoughts among his followers, but then noted:

When one user asked whether it was possibly "a genuine cameraman just being fair and equal," McCarthy replied:
