Hip-Hop Cops Stun Competition Audience With Surprise B-Boy Routine

The New Zealand officers raised the roof.

It's official. Kiwi cops have the slickest b-boy moves on the beat.

Serving officers popped and locked until they dropped during a surprise performance at the national Hip Hop Unite national championships in Wellington, New Zealand, on Saturday night.

Watch it here:

A video that's going viral begins with the event's host holding up what he says is a lost wallet. When no one in the audience claims it as their own, two officers arrive on the stage to the sound of KRS One's "Sound of Da Police."

The beat to Ghost Town DJ's 1995 hit "My Boo" — which the New Zealand Police Recruitment team made its own in May when it threw down the "Running Man Challenge" to other crime fighters across the world -- then kicks in.

Joined by seven more cops, they all dance to a series of songs -- including Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop The Feeling." Their grand finale included this seriously head-spinning move:

James Whitaker, New Zealand Police's national manager of brand and engagement, said the surprise routine was "met by a standing ovation" and "proved a hit with the youth in the audience."

"Our performance allowed us to positively engage with youth who were present and let aspiring recruits know that all sorts of people work at NZ Police, including people with a love of hip hop music and dance," he added in a statement.
