'Breaking In' Premiere: Megan Mullally Is The New Undercover Boss (VIDEO)

Megan Mullally Guests As Undercover Boss On 'Breaking In'

For its second season premiere, the barely renewed "Breaking In" (Tue., 9:30 p.m. EST on Fox) mixed up its formula in hopes perhaps of appealing to a wider audience. The old cast was slimmed down to just four, representing the old team at Contra Security. The hacker (Cameron), the thief (Melanie), the gadget guy (Cash) and Christian Slater as the great and powerful Oz. Only, that dynamic was set to change pretty quickly.

Megan Mullally was introduced as their crazy new temp secretary, but the team quickly found out that there was more going on than they realized. Financially strapped, Oz (Slater) admitted to Cameron that he was looking to sell the company in order to save all of their jobs. Right away, this is a new evolution to the Oz character. Where he was once the enigmatic and mysterious boss who never gave anything away, now he's opening up a little bit. In a way, he's kind of part of the team.

They also find out that Veronica, the crazy temp, is actually the woman considering buying out the company. When she ultimately decided to walk away from the deal, the team broke into their company to show some of their own security weaknesses, pretending it was a presentation orchestrated by Veronica to convince the company to buy them.

In other words, whether she wanted them or not, they're hers. Which means that Veronica, who is as crazy as her temp alter-ego was appearing to be, is now the boss over the whole team, including Oz. Will this stronger emphasis on comedy and team dynamics over capers and romantic angst help the show find a bigger audience this time around? Only time will tell.

"Breaking In" continues its second season on Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. EST on Fox.
