Young Woman Still Missing After Dollar Store Slaying

Dearborn Police are asking the public for any information about the whereabouts of a 20-year-old woman who may have been abducted from the scene of a homicide (see video above).

When employees at the Family Dollar store in Dearborn, Mich. unlocked the doors Tuesday morning, they realized immediately that something was horribly wrong.

The store, located at 22631 Michigan Ave., was in disarray. When Dearborn police arrived, they found the body of a 20-year-old Dearborn man employed at the store who had been shot at some point during the evening of July 15, according to a release. The victim has been identified as Joe Orlando, according to local news station WXYZ-TV.

Brenna Kathleen Machus of Romulus is still missing, and police say they believe she may be in danger. Anyone who has seen or communicated with Machus since Monday, July 15 is urged to contact Dearborn Police immediately at (313) 943-2241.

"Our investigation is ongoing and all of our resources are currently being utilized to locate Ms. Machus and identify and apprehend the perpetrator of this vicious crime," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a release.

Dearborn Police have released a video of a suspect wanted for questioning in this case (see above). The video stills appear to show a man, clad in a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers, who entered the store at 7:26 p.m. on Monday, July 15.

Anyone who has information pertaining to the suspect can call the Dearborn Police Department number above or report an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP or the Dearborn Police tip line at 313-943-3012. Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $2500.00 reward for information leading to an arrest and/or recovery of Machus.

UPDATE: July 17, 6:10 PM: Brenna Kathleen Machus of Redford is still missing, and police say they believe she may be in danger. Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad also asked two unknown female customers who were inside the store between 7:25 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. to contact police immediately.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering an $11,100 reward for information about Machus' whereabouts, as well as $2,500 for tips that lead to an arrest and a $1,000 bonus for any information received by midnight on July 17. The Crime Stoppers bureau, which rewards information on violent crimes in Southeast Michigan, is completely confidential and available 24 hours per day.
