The ratings war between NBC News and ABC News at night is heating up, and Brian Williams isn't liking it one bit.

"NBC Nightly News" still tops "ABC World News" in total viewers, but its dominance among viewers ages 25-54 is slipping. ABC News has won the demo repeatedly in the past few months, and won it during the May sweeps month for the first time in seven years.

The Hollywood Reporter examined NBC News' numerous ratings challenges in a piece published Wednesday, and noted Williams' reaction to the situation. "Brian, like all of us who work on Nightly News, is less than happy about the one small demo issue we have and [we] are completely focused on correcting it," the network's senior vice-president Alexandra Wallace told the publication. "We're competitive people, so we want to win everywhere."

That comment comes after Williams himself had expressed his dissatisfaction with the demo ratings in an interview with the New York Daily News in May. “What can I say, I’m a competitive being,” he had said.

Still, it remains to be seen whether ABC News can sustain or increase its momentum.
