WATCH: Guinness Declares Illinois Woman The World's Shortest Woman

Bridgette Jordan may be the world's shortest woman, but she's long on heart.

Jordan, a 22-year-old student at Kaskasia College in Centralia, Ill., has just been declared the world's shortest woman by Guinness World Records.

Her record-setting height of 2 feet, 3 inches allowed her to beat out the previous record holder, Elif Kocaman of Kadirli, Turkey, who measured 2 feet, 4.5 inches.

However, Jordan's reign as the world's shortest woman could be short-lived.

Currently, Guinness recognizes Jyoti Amge, 17, of Nagpur, India, as the world's shortest teenager. Amge measures just 2 feet tall. If she maintains that height when she turns 18, Guinness may give her the honor as the world's shortest woman.

But for now, the crown is Jordan's. She said she is grateful for the opportunity to be recognized in this year’s book and to encourage others to be true to themselves and accept everyone’s differences.

“I believe that everyone should be confident in themselves,” Jordan said, touching on how she deals with her unique appearance.

Although Jordan is the sole title holder of the world's shortest woman, she's not standing alone in the record book. Guinness said that she and her brother, Brad, 20, who stands 3 feet, 2 inches tall, are also the world's shortest siblings.

The Jordans have a little-understood genetic condition known as Majewski osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II, but neither have let their medical challenges become obstacles in leading active and fulfilling lives.

For instance, Bridgette enjoys dancing and cheerleading, while Brad’s hobbies include karate, gymnastics, basketball and performing magic tricks.

When Bridgette -- or Bri, as she's called -- was born, she weighed 1 pound, 12 ounces, and was 12.5 inches long, while Brad weighed 2 pounds, 4 ounces, and measured 13.5 inches long, according to Fox2now.com.

Their mom, Christy, was pregnant with Brad before Bridgette was diagnosed. The two have an older sister, who has a child in kindergarten who is already taller than Bridgette.
